We met more than three decades ago when we both worked at the same radio station and we’ve been besties ever since. One of the things we’ve bonded over is a mutual love of names — the good ones, the bad ones, the old ones, and the new ones. We pay attention to names. We think about them and study them.
We’ve been helping to name babies and studying names in popular culture and history for 30 years as a hobby. if we had ever heard of a baby name consultant back then, we would have probably had different careers. Since we’ve already named our own kids successfully, we’re offering our expertise to you!
American Name Society
As you can imagine, no qualifications are necessary to give advice about baby names! Dori and Kristen both hold memberships in the American Name Society, which promotes the study of onomastics (the study of proper names). That alone may make us more qualified than your mother-in-law!

Because I’m interested specifically in names, I often take note of names I find in historic parts of a cemetery. You will always see plenty of Georges, Annas, Williams and Janes, but what about more unusual names?

How long does it take?
